“Invite all to the Way of Thy Lord with Wisdom and Beautiful Preaching” — Surah16, Ayat 125

Masjid Freehaven was established by a few dedicated Muslims from Lawnside, N.J., and its surrounding vicinity in 1999. The Muslim families came together for their prayers, Islamic studies, holidays, etc. The families wanted to have a place close to their homes where they could worship.

Masjid Freehaven sits on approximately 1.75 acres of land in a beautiful wooded setting. Lawnside, N.J., a community of 3,000 residents has a significant history as a landmark for the Underground Railroad. Lawnside was named Freehaven before the Civil War, as a refuge for runaway slaves from the South. Masjid Freehaven’s name was chosen to recapture the significant history of the Lawnside Community.

We are a rapidly growing community seeking to attract people from all walks of life who can contribute to our rich and diverse heritage.

Masjid Freehaven is a Non-Profit, 501(c)(3) organization that is in association with the visionary leadership of Imam WD Mohammed. We are committed to presenting, teaching and practicing Al-Islam in a clear and balanced way, never giving in to extremes and working for the good of humanity.

Masjid Freehaven offers a host of services to its members and for the community as a whole. Masjid Freehaven takes pride in its community and the services it offers, and invites/encourages all members to volunteer their services and take ownership of the Islamic tradition here in Lawnside.

To volunteer or become a part of this growing community, contact Sister Loretta at (856)547-8539. Please leave a message with your name and phone number.
